The small size of these speakers and the fact that they only need a USB port--no electrical outlet--is really nice. Unfortunately, the sound quality is not the best, and the speakers don't go nearly as loud as I would have hoped. If not commendable, these speakers are a good deal for the price, and will work well enough if your computer's speakers are poor quality (for example, if you're like me and own a netbook).
Any voice sounds like it's coming from a tunnel. For music, there is no adjustment for bass and treble. Installation and hook-up was a breeze. I wouldn't recommend these, wish I had gotten something better.
Yes, they are USB powered; but while they derive power from the USB port, they require a separate hookup at the headphones output. That makes no sense at all. The speakers sound ok, but they have barely enough volume, even at maximum output setting. I replaced these with lower priced Logitech USB speakers (that use the USB port to get both power and sound) -- and am far more satisfied.
The Logitech V10 speakers run totally off USB which provides *both* the audio and the power. The sound from the speakers is muffled compared to the more expensive Logitech V10 speakers. Also, as the image shows, there are two wires connecting these speakers to a computer, USB and a standard audio wire. Also, the wires in these speakers are not removable. Its nice though to have a volume control knob on the front.
What great little speakers for the price.Quality sound and distortion not to bad at all at very high levels.Well worth getting
